Pastor LeRoy “Skip” Smith to Retire

KHCB has been broadcasting the message of the Bible for 57 years and Pastor LeRoy “Skip” Smith began his program on KHCB 57 years ago! In 1962, Skip Smith was pastor of Minitex Baptist in Houston which happened to be in the same neighborhood as the first KHCB studio. Pastor Smith knew the station had gone on the air in March and one day a few months later, he received a call from KHCB and was told that one of the programmers wasn’t able to do his regular program that day. Pastor Shim was asked if could come and teach a 15 minute Bible study but he had only 40 minutes to prepare! Thankfully, Pastor Smith agreed and since that day has shared a “Prayer Time” message every Friday morning.

He has pastored several churches in the Houston area including South Post Oak Baptist, Second Baptist Jacinto City, and Calvary Baptist. Pastor Smith served 22 years an Assistant Pastor at Sagemont Church until his recent retirement. Pastor Smith has now retired from KHCB as he and his wife, Anita have moved to the Dallas area to live near their family. We will miss his practical and insightful teaching. We are grateful for Pastor Smith’s 57 years of faithfully and rightfully dividing the Word of Truth as he has helped many generations to “Keep Him Close By.”
